CHEVROLET IMPALA SS TO RETURN IN 1994 (PR

Impala SS, a popular Chevrolet nameplate of the 1960s, will
return in 1994 on a small run of six- passenger sport sedans,
General Motors President Jack Smith confirmed today.
Since last October, Chevrolet has been displaying an Impala SS
concept car in auto shows. Chevy said positive reaction to the
show car prompted the decision to build it. Derived from a
civilian version of Chevy's Caprice police car, it features a
monochromatic exterior, Corvette powertrain, 17-inch wheels and
tires and numerous distinctive interior appointments, including
bucket seats.
No production estimates or prices were released.
Impala SS was the name Chevrolet gave to high-performance
versions of its full-size cars from 1961 to 1971. CONTACT:
